Fulop recovering well after tumour scare

Former Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop says he is recovering well after he underwent surgery to remove a tumour in his arm.

The 30-year-old – who represented Greek Super League outfit Asteras Tripolis last season but is now out of contract – felt what he described as sharp pain in his arm from February, causing an initial bout of surgery.
Fulop, who made 41 Premier League appearances for Sunderland from 2007-08 to 2009-10 and was also on the books of Manchester City, Tottenham and West Bromwich Albion, returned to playing shortly after the operation.
But he was later informed that a malignant tumour was found in the operated arm, forcing him to undergo surgery again.
With the tumour being spotted early, there was no risk of it spreading through the rest of his body, and a…

Aston Villa v AFC Bournemouth: Relegation looms for struggling hosts

Aston Villa s Premier League fate could be sealed this weekend if the bottom club continue their miserable run of seven successive losses when they entertain AFC Bournemouth.

Managerless Villa are clinging onto their top-flight status with six games remaining, but defeat at Villa Park combined with Norwich City gaining anything from their trip to Crystal Palace would see them relegated to the Championship.

In fact even a draw would not be enough to save Villa  who are 15 points from safety should Norwich win on their visit to Selhurst Park.

Not since 1988 have Villa who are one of seven clubs to play in every Premier League season been in the second tier of English football, although they have flirted with the drop in the last four seasons.

Their luck …

Celtic have signed Olivier Ntcham from Manchester City on a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old, capped by France at every level from Under-16 to Under-21, had joined City s academy from Le Havre in 2012.

Ntcham did not manage a senior appearance for City and will now seek to help Celtic retain the Scottish Premiership title.

The wait is finally over! Olivier Ntcham joins on a four-year deal. Welcome, Olivier!

Ivan Perisic used social media to urge Edin Dzeko to join Inter as the Roma striker expressed his sadness about Radja Nainggolan s switch to the San Siro.

Nainggolan joined Inter in a deal that could reach €40million, prompting Dzeko to post an emotional farewell to his former team-mate on Instagram.

After Nainggolan responded to the Bosnian target man, Perisic interjected to invite Dzeko to join the Belgian in Milan.

Dzeko s message to Nainggolan said: Today I m sad and it s because of you Radja.

Edin Dzeko said farewell to Radja Nainggolan in an Instagram post on Tuesday, the midfielder swapping Roma for Inter.

Yerry Mina Stock Soars as Colombia Falls Short

Yerry Mina

It’s the morning after and you have to feel for Colombia.

Los Cafeteros were a glowing sparkle in Russia with their high spirits, commendable team atmosphere and dance would that would turn heads of the professional dancers. Their glorious fighting spirit was insufficient to lead them through against roaring Three Lions who ended up eliminating the South Americans off of the penalty shootout.

Jose Pekerman’s men once again displayed a huge mental strength and refused to crack under pressure in a game they started poorly. Their confidence grew as the game pushed onwards and Colombians rose back up from a poorly executed defence plan thanks to a man who can proudly stand as Colombia’s top performer in Russia.

Barcelona defender Yerry M…

Proud Simeone says Atleti gave ´everything´ in Champions League exit

Diego Simeone was satisfied his Atletico Madrid players gave everything they had as they exited the Champions League quarter-finals at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday.

The LaLiga side put in a spirited second-half display at the Wanda Metropolitano, yet a goalless draw meant they suffered a 1-0 aggregate defeat.

The tetchy match spilled over in the closing stages, with both sets of players clashing after Felipe s foul on Phil Foden – a challenge that saw the defender receive a second yellow card.

Simeone was also booked in stoppage-time after entering the pitch in an apparent attempt to calm down Stefan Savic, who was involved in running battles with City players throughout the game.

The ugly scenes continued in the tunnel after the game a…

´Provocative´ Neymar tough to manage but essential to PSG success, says Tuchel

Neymar s provocative tendencies make him a handful but Thomas Tuchel says Paris Saint-Germain cannot win trophies without him and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG refused to let Brazil star Neymar return to Barcelona in the close season after the clubs failed to agree on a fee for the world s most expensive player.

Neymar upset supporters in Paris with his pleas to leave but a return of four goals in six Ligue 1 games amid injury troubles have helped prove his commitment to the cause.

Head coach Tuchel, however, admits it can be tough to keep the 27-year-old in line.

He told France Info: [It s] not easy at all! He has a big, big heart, but unfortunately, he doesn t always show that he s a generous, reliable boy.

Sometimes he s provocative and it s a great pity…

Wolves 1-5 Manchester City: Main Talking Points As De Bruyne And The Sky Blues Run Rampant At Molineux

24 hours after Liverpool snatched a 2-1 victory away at Aston Villa, Manchester City managed to keep up their charge for this season s Premier League crown with a stunning display in the Midlands.

Breezing past European dreamers Wolves on Wednesday night as they eventually left Molineux with a 5-1 romp to show for their troubles, the Sky Blues now just have two more top-flight fixtures to scratch off.

With attacking talisman Kevin De Bruyne bagging four individual strikes, including a first-half hat-trick, the mood in Pep Guardiola s camp certainly doesn t seem to have dampened after their Champions League exit last week.

Putting on a rampant performance away from the Etihad and once again giving their goal difference a significant boost, we have taken a look at…

The Argentina international has put pen to paper on a reported five-year contract with the north London club.

The 23-year-old becomes Tottenham s third signing under Nuno Espirito Santo following the arrival of winger Bryan Gil from Sevilla and the loan acquisition of Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, whom Romero played alongside in 2020-21.

Romero is also the second-most expensive transfer in Spurs  history after Tanguy Ndombele s £53.8m switch from Lyon in 2019.
